The larger product cylinder, the more available volume for filling is adjusting the length of the pistons Stroke can change this volume. As the stroke is lengthened, the volume of the chamber is increased and as the stroke is shortened, the volume of the chamber is decreased.
Accuracy is dependent on what percentage of the overall volume of the product cylinder is used. To greater the volume, for better result we get depending on the diameter. These series filling machines are accurate to +/-1% when used in the recommended fill volume ranges for each specific size cylinder.

The piston is drawn back in its cylinder so that the product is sucked into the cylinder. A rotary valve then changes position so that the product is then pushed out of the nozzle instead of back into the hopper.
This type of piston filler is best suited for viscous products that are paste, semi paste, or chunky with large particulates. These piston fillers are built to meet food grade standards and can also handle various chemical applications.

The concept is actually rather simple in that the hopper flood feeds the rotary valve which connects between the hopper and cylinder on the draw stroke and then flips ninety degrees between the cylinder and discharge tube on the dispense stroke, as can be seen in the animation on the right. Because the rotary valve can be hollowed out, large particles of up to one half inch (sometimes larger) can pass through without damage.
